FROM THE FAUX SHADOWS
Hi All,
The set for the March meeting (time permitted) will be;
DANCE ON
CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO
SHAZAM
THE RISE AND FALL OF FB (haven’t done this for a while)
AAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDD
APACHE (haven’t done this for a longer while)
Also I could accommodate Mark with the Rise and Fall and that song about a Greek Pacific Islander Kon Tiki into my set (by substituting two of my selected songs for Mark’s) and give Charlie a well deserved earlier smoko break. I also suggest that other players (in this case Rob) who have offered to lead for Mark do the same and incorporate all or some of his requests into their repertoire. The main reason for doing this is to share equal time for all lead guitarists so one doesn’t get to play say 10 songs while the rest get to play say 5 songs. His requests could be incorporated into two or more lead player’s sessions and thus reduce the number of sets and distribute the precious time equitably. After a while Mark could rhythm for other lead players after he becomes known to more players. The same system could be adopted for other players like bass players whishing to play more and learn more songs e.g. Maree.
Thanks and Regards

Hi Peter,
Your argument sounds rather petty to me ...and complicated.
To simplify matters it's best if i opt out on this occasion.Sorry Mark!
See you all on sunday.

Hi all,

Hey fellas let's not get our knickers in a twist over this and look at the facts!

Sorry Rob, I have to agree with Peter somewhat on this.

I certainly don't think it's 'petty' if it means that other lead players miss out on playing because one lead player does two sets.

I guess you volunteered to do Mark's set because no one else has offered to do so yet and time is getting short.

However, we potentially have 15 lead players who may all want to play, and there are still some lead players who haven't put sets in yet. Maybe one of those players would like to play with Mark. (You have until Thursday fellas)

So far we have 8 sets, including Mark's, for this month. However the 'closing date' for sets isn't until next Thursday so there could be more.

So perhaps you should say that 'if no one else offers to play with Mark you will do the set with him'. That way you leave the possibility of another lead player using Mark in his set. If there are less than 11 sets I don't have a problem with anyone doing 'extras' or sharing them.

See the article on set procedures in the 'Financial Members Only' forum.

Let's all play it cool and be fair please.

Regards,
BarryF

Hi Barry
Under the circumstances its probably best if I just offer to play rhythm for any group short of a rhythm guitarist.

Regards
Mark
